Yei River County Commissioner denied that the Church was paying taxes.

Juma David Augustine said the church is paying less than one percent because it is a non-profit institution and freely serve everybody.

He was reacting to the statement of Yei Catholic Bishop that the government was levying heavy taxes to Church expatriates.

Mr Juma said the government will sort out the issue of  taxing Church expatriates.

Commissioner Juma urged the communities to participate in the Constitutional Review process.

He ruled out that if citizens do not want to contribute their views to the Constitution the government will write the constitution according to its will and citizens will not have an opportunity to oppose.

The commissioner was speaking on Sunday at Christ the King Cathedral in Yei.
