Yei River County in Central Equatorial state on Monday continued planting trees in Yei’s main roads, government institutions, schools and churches’ compounds.
Forest Assistant Commissioner Alfred Kennedy said this is the third trees planting campaign, Easter Radio reported.He explained that the first was launched by Kenya Commercial Bank in 2006 and the second was led by the former Commissioner David Lokonga in 2009.
He called for joint responsibility in caring for the trees.
Yei River County Commissioner Juma David Augustine said trees planting is a global concern to make the environment green.
He added that there was great need to plant many trees in Yei.
The county commissioner took part in planting the first trees opposite the county headquarters and some departments.
