Bari women of Juba County in Central Equatoria want to recommend their popular ancient Chief Jube to unite the people of the state and of South Sudan at large.

Jube was a chief who lived in Juba in the 1880s and gave the name to the town, Bakhita Radio reported.

His tomb is in Juba town near Juba Central Prison.

Bari Community Women Sector chairperson Miriella Augustino Modi said they were meeting in the chief Jube’s mausoleum to discuss issues of concern in the community, the state and the country.

Mama Miriella revealed that chief Jube is vital to the Bari community because he was one of the oldest chiefs whose named is used for the town.

The Bari women together with the youth will commemorate on July 8 the independence of South Sudan in chief Jube’s mausoleum.

The day is always coloured with traditional dances from the Bari community youth associations.
