A Human Right Officer working for the United Nations Missions in South Sudan or UNMISS in Yambio agreed with the Government of Western Equatoria to star human rights clubs at secondary schools in the state.
UNMISS Officer Pilar Cuesta inked a memorandum of understating with the State Ministry of General Education Pia Philip Michael to support human rights clubs in secondary schools, Anisa Radio reported.Mr Cuesta explained that secondary schools human rights clubs will allow the students to advocate for equal rights to education for both female and male and to discourage discrimination in the society.
Minister Pia Michael welcomed the idea.
He cautioned that the clubs should not interfere with the culture of the people of Western Equatoria.
Mr Pia said human rights misconceptions can create problems between parents and children.
