Lainya County Commissioner wants women to have their own female lawyers to defend them on rape cases because they are marginalized in court.
Huda Michael Laila was reacting to the rape of a 9-year old girl on Sunday.The offender, a soldier, got away without any punishment.
Mama Huda told Easter Radio in a phone call that as a female leader she wants women to sit down and choose their own female lawyers.
She said when raping cases occur, people tend to settled the matter privately without punishing the culprits.
Mama Huda added that men dominate the courts and deny facts without considering the consequences of rape in the future of the victims.
The county commissioner promised that in her watch she will not fail to punish wrongdoers.
