Thanking prayers and confession of sins are necessary to celebrate independence.
National Healing, Peace and Reconciliation Committee chairperson Archbishop Daniel Deng Bul told CRN on Thursday that South Sudanese did not come together to thank God and confess their sins after the independence. He said the Committee decided to prepare a day of thanksgiving and confession on July 8 marking the beginning of the National Healing, Peace and Reconciliation.
Archbishop Deng announced that in Juba people will meet for prayer at the Football Stadium.
He urged each state to choose its prayer centre.
Archbishop Deng said the national prayer is aimed to get God’s blessings for the country and its people.
He warned that if South Sudanese stay divided by tribes and did not listen to one another, God would not bless them.
The ECS head said people need to come together as one nation and one family of God.
Archbishop Deng underscored that South Sudanese need to thank God for their independence.
He said the independence was a gift from God to every South Sudanese and it is a must for any person who received the gift to say thank-you to Almighty God.
