The UN Food and Agriculture Organization or FAO on Tuesday committed to support the Government of South Sudan to establish its climate change road map.

Ê

The National Adaptation Program of Action assists least developed countries to identify priority activities in response to urgent and immediate needs to adapt to climate change.

Ê

Communities in the Greater Upper Nile, Greater Equatoria and Greater Bahr el Ghazal areas will be consulted to develop early warning systems, as well as their capacities to both adapt to climate change and mitigate the risks of its effects.

Climate change adaptation is critical in South Sudan where more than 85 percent of the population lives on farming.

The road map is also key to achieve the goal of food security for all and serves as a foundation of sustainable and resilient production and productivity in the country.
