The United Nations Development Programme or UNDP on Tuesday handed over a number of facilities to the Lakes State government.

They include seven boreholes, 12 police posts, one police station, solar power, a prison courtyard and radio communication equipment, Good News Radio reported.

The facilities built under UNDP’s Community Security and Arms Control project were meant to reduce conflicts at water points and help local authorities in remote areas.

Acting head of South Sudan Bureau for Community Security and Small Arms Control Riak Gok Majok urged communities to co-exist peacefully and allow the government to deliver services.

Abinajok Police Post is a one of the structures built by the UNDP across Lakes State.

The occasion, which brought together state government authorities and NGOs officials, took place at Abin-Ajok in Rumbek Central County.
