Refugees from Sudan’s Blue Nile State are celebrating their World Day on Thursday in a new camp in Upper Nile State.
UN Refugees agency UNHCR spokesperson Tim Irwin told Bakhita the agency and partners completed the operation to relocate more than 18,000 refugees from Jamam to Kaya.He said refugees were relocated to Kaya because Jamam camp flooded during the rainy season.
Mr Irwin said new arrivals were taken to Kaya and given shelters and humanitarian aid.
He added that there are between 30 to 50 new arrivals from Sudan to Kaya every day.
The completion of the camp relocation came days ahead of World Refugee Day to be commemorated on Thursday.
