Governors of Warrap, Unity and Lakes States are meeting in Rumbek to discuss issues of insecurity within their borders.
Unity State Governor Taban Deng Gai told the press at Rumbek Airport on Monday that the three governors are going to discuss ways to resolve recurrent cross-border cattle raids and tribal conflicts within their states and borders, Radio Good News reported.Governor Taban admitted that security challenges still exist although there were significant improvements since 2005.
He expressed hope that the security meeting will come out with mechanisms to strengthen law enforcement agencies.
Lakes State Governor Matur Chut Dhuol revealed that Lakes, Unity and Warrap authorities in the previous meetings agreed to cooperate by arresting suspects and handing them over for trial and imprisonment in the state where they committed crimes.
He said Wulu killing suspects that claimed lives of six people last month were on their way to Rumbek Central Prison.
Warrap is represented by Deputy Governor Akech Tong Aleu.
