Rebels resumed shelling “military targets” inside the city of Kadugli, the capital of South Kordofan.
SPLA-N spokesperson Arnu Ngutulu Lodi stated in an e-mail that from morning and throughout the day, government Antonov planes, jet fighters and heavy artillery extensively bombed and shelled several areas controlled by the rebels, including Atmur, Daloka and Umm Serdiba to the west of Kadugli.Mr Lodi said SPLA-N artillery units and Sudan Revolutionary Front (SRF) responded by shelling several military targets inside Kadugli.
No causalities have been reported from both sides.
Mr Lodi repeated an appeal to civilians inside Kadugli to distance themselves from military targets.
Kadugli should have hosted today the first game of the Kagame Cup co-hosted with El Fashir in North Darfur.
