The Catholic Archdiocese of Juba on Tuesday brought Christian denominations together for a three-day workshop to discuss the drafting process of the permanent Constitution of the country.
Peace and Justice Coordinator Arkanjelo Lokoyome told Radio Bakhita that the meeting aimed to find ways for citizens’ participation in the drafting of the permanent Constitution.He added that to make a meaningful Constitution, all citizens must be educated to know their roles.
The Auxiliary Bishop Santo Loku Pio said a country without the rule of law suffers from all sort of consequences.
He said South Sudan at the moment lacks laws that regulate its people.
Bishop Loku added that many bills are passed in the National Assembly to be shelved in the Ministry of Justice.
He said the country just messes up with laws that were brought in by foreigners.
Bishop Loku said the new Constitution should reflect the culture and the tradition of South Sudanese communities.
The Catholic Archdiocese of Juba organized the workshop in collaboration with IKV Pax Christi.
