The Catholic Auxiliary Bishop of Juba criticized the land allotment policy.
Bishop Santo Loku Pio said the allotment of 20-square meters plots was wrong because they are too small to accommodate a whole family. He said a family should be given ten acres to do all activities including cultivation and rearing animals because the country has vast land that can accommodate all people, Radio Bakhita reported.
The prelate added that the idea was created by a foreigner and it should not be enacted as law.
Bishop Loku said people should not be oppressed in their own land.
He called upon the citizens to wake up and talk about the Constitution that will favour their wellbeing.
Bishop Loku said South Sudan fought for two decades because of division and the division should not be encouraged in the new country.
He called upon the citizens to stand with the Reconciliation Committee to achieve long lasting peace.
