An old mahogany tree collapsed and damaged the Nationality, Immigration and Passport office in Wau, Western Bahr El Ghazal state.

The tree was planted in the early 70s at the Traffic Police compound opposite Nationality, Immigration and Passport office.

Western Bahr El Ghazal Nationality, Immigration and Passport Director, John Madut Malek, told Voice of Hope that the tree was blown down by heavy wind on Saturday.

He said the office roof was broken, but the wall and office equipment were not damaged.

A police guard at the office sustained slight injuries at the shoulder as a result of the incident.

Mr Madut said staff using the destroyed office are now working outside and their work is always interrupted by rain and heat.

He said proposals to repair the affected office already reached Juba.
