A health worker in the Nuba Mountains of South Kordofan are warning people against pneumonia and malaria infections following the onset of rains.
Nurse Rocio Aguinyaga cautioned parents to protect children from cold weather.She called on parents to cover their children with clothes when it rains to avoid pneumonia.
Sr Aguinyaga confirmed that there were some cases of pneumonia in the hospital this year.
Sr Aguinyaga advised people to drain stagnant water around their homes to avoid breeding mosquitoes.
She encouraged people to sleep under mosquito nets.
Sr Aguinyaga advised families to avoid staying outside for too long at night with children.
Pneumonia and malaria are common in the Nuba Mountains during the rainy season.
