Medicines San Frontiers or MSF Holland on Thursday evacuated 11 international staff to Bentiu and suspended activities in Leer County of Unity State.

Angelika Herb, who heads the MSF hospital in Leer, told CRN in a telephone interview on Saturday that the organization withdrew its international staff due to security threats.

She explained that first threat was followed by another massage in the Face Book making the expat staff feel unsafe.

She added that it was decided to evacuate the international staff out of Leer in coordination with the MSF Juba and Amsterdam head offices.

Ms Herb said the national staff will take care of the patients in the hospital in Leer.

She added that the security situation for the international staff is no longer guaranteed.

Ms Herb said because the MSF hospital is the only major health institution operating in Unity state, the medical charity will discuss with the local staff ways to run its medical services.

The Chinese hospital in Bentiu closed due to lack of patients because it was too expensive to the local people.
