The rate of annual inflation fell from 79.5 percent in May 2012 to 9.2 percent in May 2013 as prices were brought under control.
The National Bureau of Statistics indicated that, by region, the annual inflation in Juba stays at 8.2 percent, in Wau at 9.3 percent and in Malakal at 10.8 percent.Cheaper household equipments and transports brought the annual inflation down.
Between April and May 2013, prices went up by 1.3 percent in the country. By regions, prices increased 4.8 percent in Juba, 7.2 percent in Malakal and decreased by two percent in Wau.
Wau continues to be the cheapest city in South Sudan.
By sectors, between April and May health expenses increased 34.2 percent, alcoholic drinks and tobacco 7.5 percent and furnishing and household equipment 6.3 percent.
The Bureau says the increase in the price of health services was mainly driven by higher medical products and out-patient services prices.
