Authorities in Upper Nile said the claim that Sudan Armed Forces or SAF entered Kuek Payam was not true.
Manyo Commissioner Atheif Ajang Okuc said Kuek Payam in the far north of Upper Nile state was free of SAF forces and under South Sudan’s army protection.During the weekend, reports said SAF on Saturday crossed the border into the territories of South Sudan in Upper Nile state.
The commissioner confirmed that the situation was calm at Kuek.
SPLA soldeirs are on alert to deal with any violations that may occur from Sudan’s side.
CommisionerÊAjang revealed that a SAF vehicle with three armed men entered into South Sudan in an area called Pola, but they claimed that they were lost when SPLA found them.
Kuek in Manyo County is one of the disputed areas between South Sudan and Sudan.
