Faith is still weak among Christian communities in Wau after more than 100 years of evangelizers in the diocese.

This was the view Santino Maurino Morokomomo from the Justice and Peace Commission shared during a workshop organized for four parishes in Wau on Wednesday, Voice of Hope reported.

He explained that despite 100 years of faith in Wau, there are many atrocious crimes committed against Christ’s teaching.

Fr Maurino said it was necessary to keep the seven sacraments, especially the Penance and Holy Communion, as bases of faith.

Fr Maurino explained that Wau celebrated its centenary in 2004, but brutal killings and looting are still stronger than Christian values of tolerance and forgiveness.

He added that the ongoing crimes and sins revealed that the centenary celebration few years ago was meaningless.

Participants at the workshop blamed lack of coordination between catechists and priests.

They attributed weakness of faith to lack of encouragement to children to grow stronger and significantly contribute to faith.

They also noted absence of spiritual programmes based on the Holy Bible.
