A civil society organization called for peaceful border coexistence between South Sudan and Sudan.
Community Empowerment for Progress Organization or CEPO Director Edmond Yakani on Wednesday told the press in Juba that the current situation in the borders was worrying, Bakhita Radio reported.He said their observers confirmed the presence of Sudanese troops at the border threatening citizens.
Mr Yakani added that the Abyei referendum was also being delayed and the concerned authorities keep silent.
He called upon the international community to mount pressure on Juba and Khartoum to maintain peaceful coexistence along the border.
He said they want the Abyei referendum conducted within the African Union High Implementation Panel framework.
Mr Yakani also called on the Chinese Envoy to Africa to pressurize Juba and Khartoum to recommit to the cooperation agreements.
He said there were reports that Khartoum was threatening both Misseriya and Ngok Dinka communities as the Abyei referendum draws closer.
