Community Empowerment for Progress Organization or CEPO, took a move to study the internet environment to draft laws for governing internet operation in the country.

CEPO director Edmond Yakani told the Radio Bakhita that in the study, they discovered that the internet infrastructures are still poor and remain a major challenge in South Sudan.

He said there was no proper internet governance policy in the country and that discussions are ongoing to draft internet governance policy.
Mr Yakani said Internews funded their experts to draft the internet policy.
He said drafting internet governance policy required understanding of laws of the media, freedom of expression and other freedoms.
Mr YakaniÊ said Internews experts are orientating CEPO to study the existing laws to help draft the internet governance policy based on other countries experiences.
CEPO Director said CEPO is also working out to link up Google with the government to strengthen internet in the country.
Mr Yakani said after compiling data they will submit the comprehensive report to the government for endorsement.
