Thirty-eight journalists graduated on Tuesday after one-month training in journalism, public relations and digital production as part of media development in South Sudan.

Director for Training in the ministry of Information Joseph Gwado told the press in Juba that the 38 graduates were trained on ethics, reporting and interview techniques, Bakhita Radio reported.

He added that those trained in public relations learned tips of communication within the institutions and the public.

National Information minister Barnaba Marial Benjamin recognised the importance of journalists in the country and their work of informing the citizens on prevailing situations.

He said the government needs well trained journalists who can inform the citizens with accurate information.

Dr Marial described the training of journalists as very important because it equipped them with the code of conduct.

He said with the passing of the Broadcasting and Corporation Bill to the third reading would enable the country to form basic foundation for democracy.

The occasion was attended by the deputy general education minister Rebecca Joshua Okwachi.
