UK-Aid through the Department for International Development supported Yei Teacher Training College or YTTC with 200 primary school textbooks and teacher guides.
The books will be used to assist with the training of teachers working in or to be deployed at primary schools and Adult Learning Program centres throughout the country.The donation is part of the ongoing national textbook distribution which provides teaching materials to more than 4,900 schools in all States of South Sudan.
Suzan Voga, the Deputy Principle for Academics at YTTC, underlined that the books received are essential for training of new and experienced teachers on the preparation and execution of the lessons and the use of the teacher guides in the class rooms.
She said special attention will be given to transfer skills in handling and maintenance of the books so they can be used for a long time.
Ms Voga said the primary school textbooks and teacher guides will be added to the extensive library of the college which is efficiently managed by a committed and qualified librarian.
