Two thieves stabbed one trader in Tonj South County of Warrap State on Monday night.

Mohamed Hassien, the stabbed trader, told Radio Don Bosco that two men came to his shop around two in the morning to rob him.

He said the thieves tried to break down the door.

Hassien added that he was awakened by the noise and when he opened the door to see what was going on one thief ran away while the other knifed him in the chest.

He said he called for help.

Shopkeepers assisted him and took him to the hospital for treatment.

They told him they saw the two thieves running away from his shop.

Chief of Police Santino Monybuot said normally there are police patrolling the market at night but the officers were taken to Wanalel, Aguko and Mayangok border points following recent cattle raids in and around Cueibet.

He added that the police vehicle is currently without a battery so police movements are limited to foot patroling.

Mr Monybuot said Mr Hassien’s stabbing is under investigation and the Police is doing everything they can to catch the attackers.
