AFRICA EDUCATIONAL TRUST STARTS PROGRAMME IN TORIT

A NGO started an in-service secondary school teacher’s diploma programme in Eastern Equatoria state with 20 students.

Acting Director for General Education in Eastern Equatoria State Ministry of Education, Celestino Onyei Dumo, officiated over the launch of the Africa Educational Trust programme on Monday at Torit Technical Institute, Radio Emmanuel reported.

Mr Onyei said the ministry only accepted Africa Educational Trust training programme after a long dialogue to confirm its quality and viability.

Africa Educational Trust Manager in South Sudan Jackson Okello explained that the in-service teachers programme included residential tutorials, in-school mentoring and the monitoring of mentors.

The programme named “Quality in Secondary School” aims at improving the quality of teaching and learning in South Sudan.

Lakes, Jonglei, Central Equatoria and Western Equatoria states were the first to benefit from the Africa Educational Trust programmes.
