A dozen of NGOs operating on food production in Yei set plans to increase crops and plant trees in all Yei’s major streets to preserve the environment in the town.

Yei County Assistant commissioner for agriculture Edimon Taban Gogo held a preparatory meeting with the NGOs operating in the area on Tuesday, Radio Easter reported.

He said the meeting aimed to strategise food production and plantation of food trees, following the master plan for agriculture.

Edward Salah from Norwegian People’s Aid or NPA spoke on behalf of the NGOs present.

He urged partners to work closely with the farmers to fill the food gap in South Sudan.

Yei River County, lying on the greater green belt, is considered one of the food baskets of South Sudan.
