Morobo County Commissioner told tobacco growers to stop and produce food crops instead.

Moses Simon Soro pointed out that the priority of the County is to be food secure and supply the whole country to improve quality of life, environment and economic prosperity, his pressman reported to CRN via e-mail.

He said another struggle is to transform agriculture from traditional to modern methods of farming to achieve food security and sustainability.

Mr Soro underlined that growing tobacco in Morobo County is illegal because it destroys the soil with fertilizers and curing of the tobacco produces deforestation.

He seriously warned the people of Morobo County not to get involved in growing tobacco.
