Sixty-eight religious women and men from 26 congregations working in South Sudan are starting Tuesday a three-day workshop to reclaim their prophetic voice for the South Sudanese people.

Facilitator Roland Onuekwusi Ð a Nigerian missionary who works at the Catholic Health Teaching Institute in Wau, run by Solidarity with South Sudan Ð told CRN that the religious women and men have a big role to play in South Sudan.

He said the religious should help people to be mindful of the presence of God in their life and of their faith amid many different voices.

Fr Roland said he expected that the workshop empowered and encouraged religious women and men to be more prophetic in their encounters with the South Sudanese.

The participants will study the current reality of South Sudan, deepen the prophetic dimension of religious life and discuss areas of action, involvement and strategies together with the establishment of the Religious Association of South Sudan.
