Eastern Equatoria governor urged citizens to control their daily spending regardless of the resumption of oil production in the country.

Louis Lobong Lojore told a public rally on Thursday in Torit that people spent lots of money after the signing of the 2005 Comprehensive Peace agreement in reckless ways without proper budgeting.

Mr Lobong urged people to keep the careful spending mechanisms they employed after year’s austerity measures following the shutdown of oil production.

The governor called the public rally to inform citizens on current issues in the state and in the country.

He talked about the bad road conditions in the state, road attacks along the Juba-Nasitu and Juba-Nimule highways and the recent bloody clashes between government forces and armed criminals in Budi County that followed a deadly cattle raid in Bira.

Mr Lobong said the Equatoria region was committed to supporting President Salva Kiir Mayardit’s leadership.
