Four honey hunters from Sinakpuro Village of Tombura County in Western Equatoria rescued a 12-year old girl who escaped from the Lord’s Resistance Army or LRA on Wednesday.

Tombura press officer Bakundiri David told Radio Anisa that Mborihengare Mboribirungo was found in the bush along river Rambio, west of Tombura.

She explained that she was caught in a place called Banda, in the DR Congo, nearly two years ago.

Ms Mboribirungo said it was God’s mercy that saved her from the LRA.

She explained that she escaped alone and spent five days in the bush without food.

Tombura County Commissioner Charles Babiro Gbamisi urged the public to be vigilant and alert day and night for security to be guaranteed.

Ms Mboribirungo was sent to Yambio for further identification.
