The Special court handling Wau’s December deadly violence cases in its sitting on Thursday declared the former commissioner innocent of the charges brought against him.
John Peter Miskin was accused of ten charges and the court had cleared him of nine.
He was tried for failing to sensitize Wau county citizens on the relocation of the county headquarter to Bagari and for instigating the youth through a phone call during a meeting at Hai Salam School few days before the violent protests.
He denied the charges.
Presiding Judge Bouga Ajwaj Makeir ruling closed the case.
He said the commissioner has made all the necessary processes for the headquarters relocation and the government was made aware of the general public resistance to the transfer.
Defence lawyer Kur Lual Kur acknowledged that the ruling was fair and it clearly showed the boundary between the different powers and the independence of the judiciary.
He added that the ruling proved that nobody was above the law.
Commissioner Miskin told Voice of Hope after his release that his case was a test to the judicial system.
He assured that he had never committed any of the alleged charges and acknowledged the role played by the judiciary which made the trials possible.
Mr Miskin commented that the trial showed that justice prevailed.
Mr Miskin was the ninth person to be declared innocent in the Wau violence trials.
