Persons with disability in Eastern Equatoria State have appealed to the Government to accord them equal considerations in every sector.
Philemon Loriang Alimpo, working at the State Ministry of Gender and Social Development, made the appeal during an interview with Radio Emmanuel.He called on the entire population to give equal respect to the people with disability.
Mr Loriang said people with disability have never been represented equally in both public and private sectors.
He urged the state government to ensure equal involvement of people with disability in all the available employment opportunities.
Aluma Rashid, another person with disability working at Torit Omoliha Market, encouraged colleagues never to wait for financial assistance from others but to engage in income generating activities.
Patricia Ladu petitioned the government to consider the disabled persons when planning public structures.
She urged the government for special care provision in both hygiene and hospital care.
Ms Ladu stated that many people with disability failed to access public offices because the buildings did not favour them.
