The administrator of schools in the Catholic diocese of Wau denied that teachers were on strike at Jebel Kher Co-Education Primary School.

A source at the school told Voice of Hope that full time teachers in Jebel Kher School have been on a slow down strike for nearly two weeks demanding that the head teacher should be changed.

The source added that the teachers accused the head teacher of registering additional pupils without the consent of the diocese and of collecting 20 Pounds from each teacher’s salary every month as breakfast contribution.

Administrator Kasiano Rudolf Waderif said he went to Jebel Kher and there was no teachers’ strike.

He added that there were some misunderstandings over problems with the teachers’ timetable, some having double periods in different classes.

Mr Rudolf advised the teachers to sit down and iron out their issues with the school administration.

He said a strike would affect the pupils above all.

Jebel Kher Primary School last year was first in the state’s primary examinations.

The school belongs to the Catholic Diocese of Wau and employs eight full time teachers, three student teachers and four part timers.
