Missionaries Salesian of Don Bosco in Tonj have handed their School to the state government.
Justin Lual Madoor, newly appointed head teacher of the Bongo Primary School, said that the Salesians Missionaries have handed over the primary school in Tonj South County.Mr. Madoor said the School retained eight of the Don Bosco Primary School teachers and that the government will add seven teachers this year.
He said that the name Don Bosco has been removed and that the school will return to its original name of Bongo Primary School as it was in the early 1940’s.
Mr. Madoor added that cooperation between the government, the Salesian Missionaries and community of Tonj will continue.
He urged parents to send their children to register for the Bongo Primary School from Primary one to eight with school fees of 35 South Sudanese Pounds.
Salesian Community Superior in Tonj, Fr. James Pulickal and former Principal of the Don Bosco Primary School, said they handed the school so that children of Tonj can benefit.
He said the Salesians Missionaries will focus on the satellite schools in the villages.
Fr. JPulickal also advised parents and guardians to take advantage of the low school fees and encouraged all the children to get registered for the 2013 academic year.
