25 chiefs from five Counties of Rumbek are gathered in Akonbuoi in Rumbek town to discuss the process of peace and reconciliation in Lakes state.
The one-day peace conference to bring Lakes state communities together is initiated by Sudan Council of Churches.Sudan Council of Churches Peace Officer for Bahr el Ghazal region, Casmiro Monday Gabriel, told Good News Radio on Wednesday that there have been many conflicts among Rumbek communities.
Mr. Monday stressed that, conflicts brings destructions in the community, unrest, and trauma which do not allow people to stay together.
He said transformation of human hearts from evil acts to good can bring a substantial change of people’s behaviour.
Mr. GabrielÊ added that it is time for the communities in Rumbek to change and reconcile.
The one-day peace conference drew together 30 participants including church leaders, women, youth groups and local chiefs.
