TORIT DIOCESE BREEDS PRIESTS FOR SOUTH SUDAN, SUDAN

The Auxiliary Bishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Juba said Torit diocese has been breeding priests for the other dioceses in South Sudan and Sudan.

Bishop Santo Loku Pio said many of the priests from Torit diocese were the ones raising the other dioceses particularly Juba and Khartoum archdioceses, Bakhita Radio reported.

He was talking on Friday during the burial of the late Fr Michael Okello’s at St Paul’s National Major Seminary’s Munuki grave in Juba.

Bishop Loku called on the administrators of Torit diocese to commit their duty though there are numerous challenges.

He added that it is especial missionary time for the diocese of Torit to raise Fr Okello to lead the seminary.

Bishop Loku said Torit diocese did not waste but contributed enough to the work of the church.

Bishop Loku said Torit diocese has been the leading in every formation of priests in the entire National Major Seminary.

He appreciated the retired Bishop Paride Taban, Bishop Johnson Akio and the faithful of Torit for the tremendous job their priests are doing in other dioceses.

Bishop Loku encouraged the Bishops and the faithful in the diocese to work hard to receive more blessings from the Lord.

President Salva Kiir sent his condolence to the Catholic leaders and the faithful of Juba Archdiocese to take heart at this difficult time of the untimely death of Fr Michael Okello.
