The sisters of Loreto Girls’ Secondary School in Rumbek Diocese have told the community that they have chosen only 50 out 170 girls who attended the entrance interview to join their senior one.
Sr. Orla Treacy explained that the school is only taking girls who were studying in Catholic schools, girls whose community gave their land to Loreto sisters and blood sisters who have already their sisters studying in Loreto Girls’ Secondary.She said told Radio Good News on Sunday that 170 girls from Lakes State attended the interview, but only 50 from Catholic schools were admitted.
She added that other girls were allowed using other means like recognizing the girls of the host community and blood sisters.
Ludiya Mak Makoi one of the students accepted at Loreto Girls Secondary School advised the girls who did not make it to continue with their vision of education.
She told the parents not to keep their daughters at home simply because they have not passed the interview, but they should try to take their girls to other schools in Rumbek.
She believed that her acceptance at Loreto was her own making and determination.
Loreto Girls’ Secondary is the only Girls’ Secondary School in Lakes State and it taking only 30 girls very year.
