The chairlady of Yei River County Women Association called on people to bring to an end all sorts and forms of violence against women in the county.

Sarah Nathalino told radio Easter on Friday that the International Women Day celebration was taken to Mugwo Payam to condemn violent abuses against women including murder, rape of underage girls, defilement and mistreatment of women and rights restrictions happening in the payam.

Mama Sarah explained that the general celebration theme was “Gender agenda gain momentum, educate women and girls” and the local one “Promise is a promise to take action to end violence against women.”

She urged the people to bear love, unity and equality between men and women for peaceful coexistence in the country.

Mama Sarah said the celebration was also an occasion to celebrate women’s achievements during the war and after independence.
