The auxiliary bishop of Juba said the death of Michael Okello was a big blow to the National Major Seminary and called on the staff to be vigilant and committed to their duty.
Bishop Santo Laku Pio presided over the memorial mass for Fr Okello on Thursday evening at St Theresa’s Cathedral-Kator, Bakhita Radio reported.He encouraged the newly arrived rector and the staff of St Paul’s Major Seminary to commit to the duty that God gave them.
Bishop Loku said the young men in the seminary needed to be raised so that tomorrow they would serve the people of God well.
He added that Fr Okello’s sudden death was a big tragedy to the diocese of Torit that lost two priests at one go.
The auxiliary bishop said Fr Okello had been serving the archdiocese of Juba with numerous duties and the faithful miss him greatly.
Bishop Laku called on the faithful to ask the Lord to take the soul of Fr Okello in peace.
He said he was one of the seminarians who were taught by Fr Okello.
Bishop Laku said Fr Okllo will go down to the history of the church.
Fr Okello died suddenly on Wednesday and was buried Friday at St Paul’s Major Seminary grounds in Munuki.
