Central Equatoria State ministry of education has cancelled a deal to construct a new block at Kinji Secondary School in Yei River County due to unclear procedures on the implementation of the contract.

State education minister Scopas Jibi Dima said during a consultative meeting with stakeholders on Friday that normal procedures for awarding the contract were not followed, Radio Easter reported.

He explained that drawings being used for the construction were different from those signed in the contract.

The Minister announced the establishment of a commission to assess how much the builder spent before the works were suspened.

Tamama Construction Managing Director Mawa Nixon, who was undertaking the construction project, said he signed the contract at the state secretariat in early December and it was not a two store building.

He added that the cancellation of the contract left him stranded.

The construction project was officially commissioned by Deputy Governor Manase Lomole following other similar projects in mid February this year.
