The UN Humanitarian Coordinator in South Sudan visited Lakes State to check on the situation in the area.
Toby Lanzer told journalists at Rumbek Civil Hospital that the UN wanted to support education and health in Lakes State, Good News Radio reported.He said he would also look at the peace, development and security situation in the state.
Mr Lanzer said the situation in the maternity ward touched him very much.
He stressed the importance of maternal health to keep a healthy society.
The humanitarian coordinator said the UN would improve health services delivery in the hospital.
Mr Lanzer toured the civil hospital in Rumbek before heading to Rumbek North County, another health black spot in the state.
