The Inspector General for the Accelerated Learning Program or ALP in Yei River County of Central Equatoria said the program differs from adult literacy.

Inspector Nelson Mateyo Lodu told Radio Easter that ALP combines two classes into one for young people who dropped out from school or with disabilities to conclude primary school.

He said ALP students after four years complete primary school and are ready to join secondary education if they pass the exams.

Mr Mateyo said there were 13 ALP centres in Yei town with trained teachers.

He added that adult classes are for people over 18 years of age that want to learn how to read and write.

He said the adults program is much slower to allow students to have to do their things and attend school.

Mr Mateyo pointed out that people who mixed ALP with adult literacy were preventing the youth from joining the ALP program in the county.
