SOUTH SUDAN CHILDREN NEED MORE SUPPORT

The international community and the Government of South Sudan need to increase support for children in the country.

UNICEF Country Director Yasmin Ali Haque made the call on Saturday during the opening of a youth summit for peace building at Kapoeta South County, Radio Emmanuel reported.

She said she advocated for support for the children after a fact finding tour in the three Kapoeta counties.

Ms Yasimin praised the huge resources of South Sudan in the beauty of the country, cultural diversity, and the strength of young people that needs support.

She said the youths should be supported to resolve conflicts among communities.

Ms Yasimin described South Sudan’s children as energetic, intelligent, with determination and smiles on their faces.

The UNICEF chief suggested to the government and the international community to help children to enable them to achieve their desire of better future and better life.

About 70 young people from Budi and Kapoeta East Counties attend the youth summit for peace building.

The summit was the last event of a six-month long Youth Peace Building project funded by UNICEF and implemented by Catholic Relief Services and the Catholic Diocese of Torit.
