Kajiko Community Development Initiative in Otogo Payam of Yei River County has on Saturday launched three community projects – primary school, health centre and administrative block – to address some of the challenges that affect the population in the area.
The chairman of the development committee, Justo Zande, said the aim of the facilities was to bring services closer to the rural communities in the Boma, Easter Radio reported.Yei River County commissioner Juma David Augustine appreciated the community for standing together to address interests of the general masses and urged other communities to pertain such measures to develop the area.
He expressed disappointment about the illegal exploitation of the teak forests, warning teak dealers against the act.
Mr Augustine appealed to the Ministry of Agriculture and Forest to protect the environment.
The construction of the health and the administrative block cost over 265 thousand pounds raised by the community.
