A bushfire on Sunday burnt 40 houses to ashes in Yangiri Payam, Ezo County of Western Equatoria, leaving 250 people homeless.
Yangiri Parish Priest Elario Zambakari reported to Anisa Radio that while the people were praying in church, a wild fire started.The fire overpowered the few people who were at home and started burning houses.
More than 250 men, women and children are left homeless, with granaries, houses and all their belongings turned to ashes.
Fr Zambakari requested the emergency and relief services of the Catholic Diocese of Tombura-Yambio, and the humanitarian organizations in Western Equatoria to rescue those families that are living in the open with great fear from the beginning of the rain season.
