USAP, the United Sudan African Party, on Saturday inaugurated officially its headquarters in Juba.
Chairperson Joseph Ukel Abango told the press that the opening of the party headquarters marked the historical beginning for multiparty democracy in South Sudan, Bakhita Radio reported. He said USAP was established in 1987 for the political struggle in South Sudan, complementing the SPLA’s armed struggle.
He added that USAP was not a “briefcase party” but it will work hard to participate in the 2015 elections, alone or in coalition.
Mr Ukel said the next step for the party is to get registered in South Sudan and hold a convention to approve its key documents and the leadership.
Mr Ukel said USAP was registered in Khartoum in 2007 and it is a recognized party in South Sudan.
