A CBO or community based organization opened a centre in Yei River County to provide education to children with disabilities.

Yei Child Protection Centre Primary School head teacher Duku Jackson Augustino told Radio Easter on Monday that the school has 475 pupils, including orphans, street children and abandoned children.

Mr Jackson explained that parents do not support children who failed at school and children with chronic diseases including malaria and epilepsy leaving them in the streets.

He said the centre will care for all those disadvantaged children living in Yei’s streets.

Mr Jackson said the school lacks funding for its growth.

He added that volunteer teachers are working in dilapidated school blocks.

Mr Jackson said they mobilized the children that were selling clothes in the streets or lying idle in town.

He called upon the government, NGOs and other well-wishers to fund the school in order to offer better education to disadvantaged children.
