The Catholic Diocese of Rumbek Department of education on Friday concluded a two-month in-service training session for 61 primary teachers in collaboration with Solidarity with South Sudan.

The training, which runs for four years, is scheduled in four phases and at the end successful teachers will be awarded a certificate by the Ministry of Education after the end of four years, Good News Radio reported.

On Friday, 35 teachers completed the second phase and 26 started the first phase.

Director for Quality Promotion in Lakes State Ministry of Education Jacob Wel Majak thanked the Diocese of Rumbek for its active role in promoting education.

Angelo Laat Let, who teaches at Agangrial Comboni School, in Cuiebet County, said the two years of training have improved his teaching skills significantly.

He said teachers learn teaching methods and how to develop pupils spiritually and physically.

The teachers were drawn from various Comboni Primary Schools in Lakes State and Warrap.

The next phases of in-service training begins in January 2014.
