The rehabilitation of key Yei-Lasu road turned into a pothole filling exercise and local organizations question the quality of the work.
This is the view of Sebit Nicholas, who chairs the Yei Civil Society Organization Forum. He told Radio Easter that the funds to rehabilitate the road were not enough and the Egyptian contractors were just filling potholes with marham.Mr Sebit said the civil society groups were concerned about the quality of the repair work and wanted to know the details of the contract.
He added that the local community committee that should maintain the road after the works concluded was not integrated in the process.
Mr Sebit said there was growing concern about the quality of the roadwork.
He added that what was being done, was not what it was promised during the launching ceremony.
Mr Sebit noted that the Egyptian company has only two graders and five trucks and the equipment is not enough for the reconstruction of the Yei-Lasu road.
