Councillors from all the bomas of Yei River County in Central Equatoria started on Monday a six-day workshop on decentralization and local government system in South Sudan.

The workshop aims at creating a common understanding of decentralization policy to formalize the local councils with specific provisions and legal pay work, Radio Easter reported.

Yei deputy executive director Cosmas Lokiko Kenyi opened the workshop, urging the participants to pay attention and implement the teachings for proper service delivery.

Participant Gabriel Malish said the workshop was vital to develop the councillors’ capacities, enabling them to improve skills on local governance.

The Association of European Parliamentarians in Africa, AWEPA, organized the workshop.
